Not everything under /usr can be shared between machines. The stuff in
/usr/share/ can be (hence the "share"). So if you are administering a
large organisation and want to keep maintenance to a minimum, you may
mount /usr/share of a single server (or if you are setting up images for
a diskless terminal, or ... ).
I know you didn't want to know that, but tough luck. :)
