hiya all,

got one of those fairly regular kernel questions...
im trying to compile 2.5.1 on an IBM thinkpad 600E, 128Mb ram, running Mandrake 8.2... it looks like that will be the best way to get sound happening, doing a kernel compile and setting up alsa.

but my kernel is always too big!! 

do you have any tips on what *not* to include... i've followed what was on my previous config file but that was installed by mandrake's installer....

strange... 

i do seem to have a lot of IDE options... not sure if i should take most of those out - not being a hardware expert im not sure which ones i will need for the thinkpad...
