Echo.

Obviated at this point, as you've noticed.

...and a fine system it is. I don't know it that well, but Ak is pretty
hot at it, so I just yell across the room when I get too messed up.

> The thing is, I do want a 2.4.x kernel.

Apparently that's not a problem any more either, as you've doubtless seen,
and is perhaps the most interesting tidbit in the whole mess, even if it
does make me Completely Wrong in my original assumptions. I'm jazzed!

Our insatiable appetite for weird hardware keeps pushing us further along
the kernel trail...

The really nice thing about this entire turn of events is with RH you
won't even have to patch the kernel, and can run the very latest.
When I decide to be wrong, at least I do it productively!

> XFree86 4.x, OTOH, is where I fear I am likely to get hurt

I'm simply not up on CL chipset issues on that one, save that I don't
recall seeing anything special that fires off warning bells.
	Which means little or nothing.

> I was quite annoyed when Red Hat dropped [iceWM] from their distro.

??? Really? Wow! I am surprised. What an enigmatic call.

> I wish he would publish that.

Three official requests now.

> I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

Please! You'll be getting to it before me, so I'd like to hear what kind
of snags or bumps you hit. I'll cadge advice anywhere I can get it.
