Easy, actually. That's what the 'moved permanently' and 'redirect'
response codes are for.

I believe that webmasters - at LEAST the 'boss' - should read and
understand RFC 2616 and 2617 and the documentation for their web server.
It's as important as knowing HTML. 

... of course, how many webmasters have bothered to read the specs for
HTML either?


Maybe I hold people to a higher technical standard than they're capable
of. Now that's a depressing thought. :(
