Hi
I always try installing things from mdk RPMs, so that i can keep my RPM
database accurate.
If i need options that aren't compiled by default in mdk packages, i get the
SRPM of the package. I install it, change the options in the spec file (you
can also change the source if you want to) and build the RPM. When there's an
update, i apply the same changes to SRPM, rebuild it and i'm done. And i can
keep all the dependencies correct in the RPM database.
If what i need is only available in source code, then i have to compile it and
deal with it. It is possible to build an RPM out of the source, but i never
done that yet.
