[Techtalk] Simply Hardware

Hi All,

For hours I have been looking (googleing?) for info. I did
not want to ask here for fear hardware is not appropriate for this
list.
On initial boot the bios complained about a few things I
fixed them a bad connection or two. The Bios does not complain now,
it just stops at setting up the raid.
I am building my first box from scratch, it is together, no
floppy was included, thinking it would not be needed, now, how do I
boot my new machine off the Mandrake CD? Are there jumper setting on
the CD drive? Or do I need to find the long lost "Mandrake boot
floppy"?

*Honest I don't know where it came from but, I have a
"M****soft Windoz 95 Floppy" that says on it "CD-ROM Setup Boot Disk"
Really I can't imagine how this thing landed on my desk, truly, I
don't do windows, only Mac and Linux increasingly.

I can open up an old machine and borrow the floppy drive put
in new, a few months ago. Do I need to use this floppy and a borrowed
drive to get this new machine going?

As yet it boots (so far), to setup the striped raid array
then stops with a simple square prompt flashing. Networking to it is
beyond me as yet.
The sooner this machine is working the sooner Linux will be my main OS.
