  o openbsd's ports have "fake installs" (see http://www.openbsd.org/porting/diffs.html)
  o emerge (the package management system of www.gentoo.org) has --pretend which recurses through dependancies
  o mutt has "send this mail: yes/no?" - not sure if it counts here, but I do postpone messages alot ;)
