yeah thats fun, i've only just learnt how to do this after nearly three years 
working with GNU/Linux....!!!

you can also hit the middle mouse button if you have one... 
indicate the beginning of where you want to highlight with left mouse... move 
to the end and click the right mouse and this will highlight the whole 
selection in a Gnome terminal. then move to the new window and, as mandi 
said, either click both mouse buttons together (this emulates the middle 
mouse) or hit middle mouse...

oh im having such fun doing this now... is that one of the sad things about 
being a geek?... hehehe ;-)
