I've set up sendmail sucessfully quite a number of times now, so I'm glad 
to help out as I can. Configuring sendmail now is so way easier than it 
used to be. I actually managed to set up a sendmail system 6 or so years 
ago, when you actually had to futz with sendmail.cf. Now, one almost never 
has to deal with it - and most distros come with sendmail configured 
correctly out of the box (if they include sendmail - many include postfix 
or exim instead).
