[Techtalk] Annoying sound

It has happened to on Mandrake while playing mp3's directly from a CD.
I had to recompile both the kernel (because it was patched to check the CD
for automount every few seconds) and mpg123 (because it was patched to read
mp3 streams) to get it to work.

I now returned to good ol' Slackware,

Hi Chix. 

Something strange is going on with my machine, or strange to me anyway. 
There's this very annoying sound occuring everytime I play mp3's. It
goes like "beeeep, beeeep". I've tried various mp3 programs, but it's
all the same. 

Has this happened to you, or do you have any idea how to solve this?
