I use WindowMaker and like it but I have trouble with its built-in
ways to change defaults. Instead I use wmakerconf from 
http://ulli.linuxave.net/wmakerconf/index.html

You will find fonts under the "appearance" tab, in the "workspace"
section. 

That might help...?
