[techtalk] Poor performance on home LAN

I seem to be in the habit of forgetting to include rather relevant info
in my posts and replies...

interrupts etc) seem like the more likely culprits to me too.

I am not overclocking (I have a healthy fear of electricity).  And I
have made sure there are no interrupt conflicts.
