I'm not sure if I'm following what you're saying, but KDE /is/ GPLed.  But it
/should/ be under another license (ie GPL with QT stipulation).

As far the source goes, KDE is free software, it's just not very useful until
it's linked against QT.

Now, I could see what you're saying if the Gnome folk grabbed KDE code that
linked with QT, but that's not the case.
