I don't see it. The issue being discussed was the possible merger of Gnome and
KDE.

KDE is useless without Qt on it's own, even if you're not talking about
merging it with Gnome, so if the current licensing issues bother you then KDE
bothers you in the first place.

And as far as merging them, my point was there is already a desktop environment
that is GPL'd and relies on Qt, so obviously they are not `incompatible' in
that sense. The leap from a desktop environment that is GPL'd and relies on Qt
to (for instance) a merger of two desktop environments that are GPL'd and rely
on Qt, doesn't seem like a big one, as far as the licensing issues.
