I have a nagging itch that I know what's wrong, and that it's a BIOS thing.
Can't pin it down - if I do, I'll say. Dancer and I both suspect that 
resetting your bios to defaults might be a good thing - though being me, I'd
record your existing settings first.

If nothing else, resetting the bios to defaults and restoring your current
settings one at a time will let you /know/ if it's a bios problem. (And be 
one of those frustrating learning experiences from another thread).
