Here's the whole header (BoundingBox is in there), so don't think that's
the problem. I guess I always used bbfig to find the bounding box if
there wasn't one.

%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%Pages: (atend)
%%BoundingBox: 0 0 864 648
%%HiResBoundingBox: 0.000000 0.000000 864.000000 647.800000
%.........................................

%%BeginProlog

Thanks,

EPS files also require a BoundingBox: statement at the beginning,
which generic Postscript doesn't require, I think. There might also be
statements at the end. It shouldn't be difficult to add the statements that
make a PS file into an EPS file, but I've never actually tried to do it in
    practice.
