[prog] spliting up a java compolation file

I have just downloaded a file containg java code for a text-book for uni.  It 
has every class, applet etc all in one file.  I want to split it up in to 
separate files. So I am thinking i should be able to write a script to do 
that.  

Do you have any suggestions on what is the right tool to yuse for this... awk 
is the thing that comes to mind.  (i wuld like to avoid reading a manual on 
awk only to discover that its the wrong tool for the job, and I am behind on 
uni work.  

Probably doing it manually would take less time that working out how to write 
a script for it, but that's beside the point!
