*DevOps* *Manager (on-site)*

 DreamBox is currently seeking an DevOps Manager to provide day-to-day
direction to a team of Operations Engineers, and technical leadership and
strategic vision to the overall Product Engineering Group. The ideal
candidate is a veteran of complex cloud operations, supporting rapid growth
and a high rate of change, while maintaining excellent uptime and
efficiency.  It is critical that candidates embrace a DevOps approach: this
role is about creating solutions and matching the right technology to each
business need, *not* operating and managing servers.

As the DevOps Manager, you will help design, build and maintain systems and
processes for production, pre-production, and development environments.
You must energetically advance and champion DevOps concepts and practices
within the larger Development Group. That means driving toward better
collaboration (we’re an Agile shop), more effective automation, and
meaningful use of continuous integration in all aspects of the development
process.  You will be responsible for measuring and maintaining compliance
with all regulatory requirements and service level agreements - this means
metrics!

We will look to you to foster innovation within the Operations Team. You'll
be managing remarkable individuals who have a deep understanding of the
Dreambox solution and phenomenal ideas for making things faster, better,
and more amazing. You need to be able to identify the right places to put
our time and focus, to make the most of all the things your team can
accomplish.  As a player-coach, you will also participate in (24x7) on-call
rotation for the production environment.

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 5 years’ experience
in a leadership role within a customer-facing production operations
environment, with direct experience in a DevOps role.  It is key that you
have previous experience in an operations group supporting cloud-based
systems.  You should have deep experience with distributed systems and web
services implementation on Linux.  We will look to you for deep scripting
experience with Python, Ruby or shell.

Our tech stack includes Java, JSP/JSTL, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, Flash,
HTML/CSS/JavaScript with DOM manipulation and use of AJAX, RESTful
services, JavaScript Frameworks (AngularJS, BackboneJS, KnockoutJS,
HandlebarsJS, etc.), *nix, cloud computing, distributed systems, and Amazon
AWS (you need this!).  You should have direct experience with configuration
management automation tools (both design and implementation) like Puppet or
Chef (these are preferred); CFEngine or Ansible also OK. You should be able
to design and implement with AWS Cloud, including template, UI, script
(BOTO) and CLI access.  It would be great if you had experience with MySQL
databases and RDS; NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB.

This is a startup environment.  You need to be able to quickly and reliably
separate signal from noise.  We are a team of self-motivated engineers and
micro-management doesn’t work well here.  We work in a high-availability;
mission-critical operations environment where everyone is moving at the
speed of light and solid communication at all levels and across teams is
key.  As is a sense of humor.  We love the work we do!
