EdX, a non-profit open source educational software company, is looking for
a Principal Software Engineer to join its stellar Platform team with the
goal of building a platform to accelerate its a widely adopted open source
educational offering. The Platform team is responsible for building much of
the core capabilities leveraged by both edx.org as well as the open source
community.

*Responsibilities:*
• Design, develop, deploy, and support scalable software systems
• Stay on top of emerging technologies related to distributed systems
• Be a fearless advocate for refactoring core functionality and building
new platform capabilities
• Build operationally viable solutions
• Support the open source community
• Ability to build strong relationships across the organization

*Requirements:*
• Experience writing software in a modern OO programming language (Python,
Java, etc…)
• Experience working in a fast paced Agile/Scrum development shop with lean
experiments
• Strong understanding of distributed and scalable systems
• Ideally, a contributor to and consumer of Open Source technologies
• Ideally have exposure to many open source distributed systems
technologies (Queueing, Pub/Sub, No-SQL Key Value stores)
