Phase 3 Recruiting is looking to secure 4 core Java developers for
direct-hire opportunities in (2) Salt Lake City, UT and (2) New York City,
NY. We are looking for software engineers who understand “the big picture,”
i.e. how and why specific Java code works, not just that it does work. Ideal
candidates will be able to work well in an n-tier environment and have
strong skills in front end technologies (modern standards based AJAX
Frameworks, JavaScript, debugging). They will also understand how they will
contribute to a team environment, and the end collaborative result.


Requirements:

• Worked in a production n-tier environment (AJAX, Java EE / Oracle)

• Experience with various Web technologies, such as JavaScript, MVC
Frameworks including Struts1, Struts2 (either). Java EE including Servlets,
JSP, and Ajax Frameworks (GWT, jQuery) etc. (3-5 years)

• 4-7 years of enterprise software development experience

• Excellent core Java skills (Java 1.5 and/or Java 1.6 features)

• Enterprise RDBMS (Oracle and/or Sybase)

• Understand complex SQL queries

• Understand object-oriented design patterns

• Experience in multiple platforms: Windows XP (develop) / Linux (deploy).
Should have experience with Apache and/or Tomcat servers.



Preferred but NOT required:

• Knowledge of Java EE standards & frameworks—preferably Spring (Sun /
Spring or other)

• JMS

• Oracle App Development: SQL, PL/SQL, Stored Procedures

• JDBC, JPA (Hibernate or other)

• XML related technologies / JSON

• Extensive experience writing and debugging multi-threaded programming

• Java build systems (ant / maven). NOTE: our client is an “Ant shop” but
Maven experience will be valuable

• Continuous Integration / Unit & Integration Testing (QA experience a major
plus)

• Shell scripting (ksh/bash)

Preferred attributes:

Financial services experience and solid understanding of securities trading
Quantitative formal education (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Engineering,
Computer Science, etc.)



Typical Day:

• Front End Web Development (HTML, JavaScript, JSP, AJAX, Struts1, Struts2,
Front end layout, possible design)

 Adding Features / Enhancement requests to a legacy code base (multiple web
based and server based products), as well as bug fixing

• Java Coding

• Oracle Database Development (JPA, PL/SQL, Stored Procs, SQL)

• Fixing bugs (as assigned)



Travel:

Travel to NYC may be required (typically one or two weeks per year- Salt
Lake based only)
