Software Developer 3        Server Technologies, Database Manageability

SERVER MANAGEABILITY GROUP DESCRIPTION 

Database development team responsible to build a self-managing database. To build a self-managing database requires in-depth knowledge of all database components from query optimization, transaction and space management, CPU, memory and IO resource management, to backup and recovery mechanism. Self-tuning, self-correcting, self-learning and advisory technologies are developed to manage and integrate these components together. All these technologies are built on top of a manageability framework that proactively collects, diagnoses and analyzes workload information continuously and unobtrusively. The self-managing database should deliver optimal system performance and resource efficiency in varying workloads, with minimal user intervention.

                        

Detailed Description               

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing requirements.

                        

Job Requirements                      

Duties and tasks are varied and complex requiring independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. A minimum of four years of software engineering or related experience required.

Preferred Requirements:

We are seeking an outstanding kernel developer with 3-5 yrs of experience meeting 
the following preferred requirements: 

- MS or higher in Computer Sciences or EE (with systems specialization) 
- Firm grasp of general CS, systems and database concepts. 
- Systems level design and development experience. Would be helpful if projects 
 involved concurrency and IPC. 
- C/C++ programming skills on UNIX/Linux/Solaris based systems. 
- Highly motivated, hands-on, innovative/experimental mindset. 
- Proven ability to work with complex systems is a plus.
