[Courses][gimp] Lesson4: Basic selection tools, and copy/paste

Drop shadow was used for the text on the valentines cards but the
shadow behind Elmo on Mars was a little bit more complicated.  It is
essentially just a copy of the Elmo layer.  On the copy, I changed the
contrast to minimum to make it grey, selected the Elmo area with the
magic wand and then filled it with black with the bucket.  Shadow was
dragged out and put to the side with a perspective tool on the tool
bar and to finish it up, I played with the opacity bar so you see the
rocks.

The shadow proved a bit challenging because I guess I've never really
had a  good look at shadows that people throw.  I want to  take a few
pictures of people and their shadows at different times of day to get
a better idea of how long they would be and where they fall in
relation to the light. Elmo's shadow is just a shot in the dark.   I
