I'm going to agree with Julie here. I've fallen behind, too, and will
be very glad of an extra week or even two. You have some great
information in this GIMP information post, and just checking out all of
that is going to take as long as a lesson. It really looks like fun, at
a cursory glance, but I'm going to exercise a little self-control and do
the two lessons I've missed before playing with Wilber and other such
fun stuff.

As mentioned above, I could use a little break to good advantage. There
was one thing I wanted to ask how to do, but now that I've become an
expert in image manipulation (joke!) thanks to this course, I can see
what they did, and might try a little of the same myself.
What it was: Some time ago (pre-gimplessons), our town put out a
brochure on "Art in Public Places", with photos and addresses. A couple
of friends and I did a tour of most of the examples. It was amazing how
the photos had made some pretty pedestrian art look really good. What
they did, generally speaking, was to use two or three angles of the same
subject, manipulate one or two to be a somewhat washed-out background,
with the other(s) sharper and in the foreground. After the lessons
we've had and after taking another look at the photos, it looks pretty
simple, with the main requirement being to get good angles and decide
which should be the in-focus one.
I think I'll take a run at doing a few of these myself, since there are
a few pieces of pedestrian art around here that they didn't cover. :-)
I'll be interested in what other students want to hear about, and will
give it a little more thought myself. I'm such a neophyte at this that
I don't even know what I want to know.
