Hi,

I have gotten together with some other LinuxChix in the area and we
are forming a new chapter for the North of England. Called LinuxChix
North it is intended to server the M62 corridor i.e. the cities of
Bradford, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and York. Initially I hope to
have bi-monthly meetings in Leeds and Manchester alternating so that
its Leeds, then Manchester, then Leeds and so on. If needed we can
then branch out to other cities and/or hold monthly meetings ensuring
the don't clash.

There is a website, http://www.linuxchixnorth.org.uk/, which has a
blog and some basic info. The blog is at http://www.linuxchixnorth.org.uk/blog/
and the RSS feed is http://www.linuxchixnorth.org.uk/blog/feed/ We
also have a twitter account @linuxchixnorth. Currently there are two
e-mail addresses, both come to me, melanie at linuxchixnorth.org.uk, and uberchix at linuxchixnorth.org.uk
. Once were more organised the latter will go to the organisers of
the local meetings.

I hope to have the inaugural meeting in Leeds in early December. I
have been speaking with Linda Broughton of NTI Leeds (a spin off from
Leeds Met University) and preliminary agreed used of Old Broadcasting
House (http://www.ntileeds.co.uk/old-broadcasting-house/) one evening
every now and then. I just need to confirm dates properly for the
first meeting which I will announce here. I still need to sort a
venue for Manchester so if any Manchester LinuxChix who know suitable
places that would be useful.

That's all the news so far.

Melanie
